The performer stands up in front of the audience and begins to laugh–at first quietly, then more forcefully. He slaps himself in the face–trying to shake himself out of the fit. He calms down again, begins to chuckle as he did in the beginning. But then he starts getting loud again, cackling like a crazy person, right in front of the audience, until he once again smacks himself sober. The same thing happens all over again–for a third time. He hits himself hard, nearly debilitating himself.
